Sammi graduated with a Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. She has worked in the public school system, residential, and outpatient settings with adults, children, and adolescents. She is a Certified YMHFA Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer, a practicing Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Reiki Level Two Certified Practitioner, and has completed the Components of Care for Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorder and Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy.
Prior to becoming a Mental Health Counselor, Samantha spent 3 years practicing behavioral therapy working with children and adolescents with Autism. Sammi has additional training in birth trauma prevention and intervention, transgenerational trauma with the African American community, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and QPRT: Suicide Risk Assessment, Treatment and Management. She is currently completing trainings in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Sammi takes a holistic and client-centered approach to therapy and utilizes mindfulness, self-compassion, and empowerment. Sammi strives to continuously learn and share with her clients. She combines her diverse background to meet people where they are and to assist in a timely manner in meeting their goals.
