Samantha Kay (Sammi) graduated with a Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling from NovaSoutheastern University. She has a diverse background of counseling experience over the last nine years ranging from the public school system to residential, detox, and outpatient settings. She is a Certified YMHFA Youth Mental HealthFirst Aid Trainer and a practicing Birth and Postpartum Doula. Sammi has completed extensive perinatal trainings and is working towards Certification in Perinatal Mental Health and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.
Sammi takes a humanistic, client-centered approach to therapy. She utilizes mindfulness, self-compassion, and empowerment techniques combined with her counseling toolbox to aid clients in a timely manner. Sammi strives to continue learning every day as a therapist and share her knowledge with her clients to assist them with realistically obtaining their goals.
Prior to becoming licensed, Sammi spent years practicing behavioral therapy working with children and adolescents. Additionally, Sammi has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), birth trauma prevention and intervention, Motivational Interviewing (MI), transgenerational trauma, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and QPRT: Suicide Risk Assessment, Treatment and Management.
Sammi’s kindhearted spirit has a passion for helping all people, but she has a special calling for working with couples and families. She helps these clients gain insight, communication skills, coping strategies, and conflict resolution tools while supporting each family unit with their precise needs. Sammi's overall goal is to offer a healing space for couples and families to not only explore and improve but to thrive and enjoy their relationships together.
