Samantha graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida, with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. She is currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, and Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern with over four years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
Samantha is enthusiastic about learning and believes it is a lifelong process. She frequently uses education in her counseling approach because she strongly believes building awareness and developing skills is greatly beneficial for her clients.
Samantha has always had a passion for counseling and says her inspiration comes from her mother, whom she describes as an excellent parent and life coach. The values and strategies she learned from her mother have become the compass on her journey to finding her own theoretical orientation.
Samantha believes every person is the master of his or her own life. She believes in the power of positive thinking. She believes in hope. One of her favorite quotes, “It isn’t what you look at that matters, it’s what you see”, captures what is at the heart of her counseling style. She believes in turning life’s challenges into opportunities. She believes in thinking of how life may be happening for us, rather than to us.
Samantha is especially motivated to work with couples and families. Relationships, whether parent-child, siblings, or partners, have always fascinated her. She loves being able to help people rebuild and reconnect.
Samantha is extensively trained in Emotion Focused therapy and frequently uses an attachment-based approach in working with her clients. She believes humans are social bonding mammals, wired to connect; wired to love and be loved. Samantha feels it is an honor to walk alongside her clients, to be able to help them explore and expand their emotional experience, and to ultimately help them find the road back to themselves and to each other.
Samantha’s clinical and life experiences have helped her develop skills and insight within the areas of:
- Family Conflict
- Children & Adolescent Behavioral Issues
- Relationship Tune Ups & Repair
- Affair Recovery
- Pre-Marital Counseling
- Co-Dependency/Boundary Setting
- Communication Skills
