Annette Mershimer


Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, Trained EMDR Therapist, Certified Prepare & Enrich Facilitator, and extensively trained in Trauma Processing Model, CBT, TF-CBT, TBRI, Grief and Trauma Intervention, Brief Solution Focused Therapy

Annette graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is currently a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. She is a trained EMDR Therapist that focuses on trauma, depression, and relational issues. Annette can also offer Christian Counseling. Annette has spent the past few years working with children, adolescents, teens, adults, couples, and families.

Annette offers a safe, empathic environment that promotes understanding and growth. She equips her clients with tools and skills, to not only help them overcome their struggles, but to come out stronger. Annette uses the past as a blueprint to help navigate the future. Her aim is to help her clients feel more whole, more capable, and to facilitate self-understanding. Annette’s therapeutic goal is to get to the root of the issue, while helping the client manage symptoms along the way.

Annette believes a holistic approach is best when addressing the presenting issues. Each person's history, past, and environment is to be considered in the counseling room. She integrates various approaches to fit the needs of each individual client. Annette's goal is to empower the clients and to help them feel heard, understood, and validated along the way. Annette is a lover and advocate of counseling because she too has experienced it's life changing effect

Annette tempers the reality of personal choice with the reality of trauma. While people are free to choose, Annette also processes the outcomes that weren't chosen. Trauma is intrusive, pervasive, and can feel relentless. Annette offers evidenced based approaches to help these difficult situations. Annette truly believes it is an honor to work with another in the dark places and knows there is hope on the other side.
